Who we are?
A team dedicated to solving environmental issues in the Balkan area.
The New Environmental Transition Balkan (NET Balkan) is a non governmental, non-profit organization established in 2013.
For over a decade, we have been working to promote and fascilitate sustainable environmental development and green transition at local, national and regional levels across the Balkans. Our journey began by engaging youth in environmental issues and partnering with government institutions to build a foundation for broader, impactful initiatives. Over the years, we have built a strong network of local, regional, and international experts, enabling us to address the region’s diverse environmental needs through technical excellence, transparency, sustainability, and inclusivity.

Biodiversity and ecosystems restoration
NET Balkan works across borders to restore habitats, strengthen ecological connectivity, and protect the region’s unique species. We support the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans by turning policy commitments and regional conservation goals into living, functioning ecosystems, fostering a nature- positive and climate-resilient future for the Balkans.
Circular economy
NET Balkan drives the Western Balkans toward a circular economy, where waste is minimized, resources are reused, and communities thrive. We turn strategies into action, supporting businesses, authorities, and citizens to embrace sustainable practices for a greener, climate- resilient future.
Climate action
NET Balkan drives climate action in the Western Balkans, helping communities and economies reduce emissions and adapt to a changing climate. With tools like our ClimaProof platform, we provide data, guidance, and practical solutions to turn climate strategies into real, on-the-ground impact.
Spatial data and analysis
NET Balkan uses GIS, drones, and spatial analysis to turn environmental data into actionable insights. We help communities, authorities, and researchers monitor, map, and manage natural resources for a resilient and sustainable future.
Education and capacity building
Empowering people with knowledge and skills is key to creating lasting environmental impact. The
Western Balkans faces gaps in awareness, technical expertise, and access to best practices for sustainable development and climate action.
